Happy New Year from PhotonicSweden – Collaboration, Community, and a Year Ahead

🌟 Notes from the Office
PhotonicSweden wishes you a very Happy New Year and a successful start to the year ahead. We look forward to continuing our collaboration and to further strengthening the Swedish and European photonics community together.
The coming months mark an important phase in the forestudy for building an Excellence Cluster in Photonics, where focused cooperation between industry, academia, and research institutes will play a key role in advancing innovation, competitiveness, and societal impact within photonics.
As we enter the new year, we also want to place a strong focus on news and achievements from our members. Your innovations, projects, and milestones are at the heart of PhotonicSweden, and we encourage you to share updates so we can highlight and promote the excellent work taking place across our network.
We are equally pleased to welcome new members to PhotonicSweden. Your participation strengthens our community, broadens our expertise, and contributes to a more dynamic and impactful photonics ecosystem. We look forward to getting to know you and exploring opportunities for collaboration.
We are also pleased to highlight PhotonicSweden’s participation in the Photonics21 Annual Meeting, taking place on 9–10 June 2026. This event will be an important opportunity to contribute to strategic discussions, share progress, and engage with partners across Europe.
Thank you for your continued trust and cooperation. We look forward to an inspiring and productive year ahead.
🗓️ Swedish Photonics Excellence Cluster

The work on shaping the future Swedish Photonics Excellence Cluster is moving forward at pace. The Vinnova-funded pre-study is now halfway, and the focus is increasingly on building clear strategies, operating structures, and concrete directions for how the cluster will work in practice.
The ambition is to create a national engine that turns Sweden’s strong photonics capabilities into new industrial solutions, deeper collaborations, and long-term impact. Two thematic lines are now emerging clearly.
